Acumen provides on-call engineering services and is responsible for the delivery of more than 50 capital and maintenance projects for BART. Projects include station modernization, train control, asset management, investigative engineering, automatic fare collection, operations control planning, mechanical and electrical installations and structural and civil works. As program manager, Acumen oversees project development, client services and contracts management relating to shop work, stations and train control systems in transit projects with various other agencies.
A key project includes the design and construction of new shops and improvements to the existing facilities to maintain the current fleet and house BART’s future vehicle fleet at the Hayward Maintenance Complex. Acumen was responsible for planning and conceptual design review, oversight and coordination activities in the office and out in the field, including review of safety issues and constructability.
